So this year has been busy one! Whether its been building up our regular farmers markets every week, switching to more environmentally friendly packaging, setting up a new youtube channel, trying to keep up with online sales during lockdown periods or winning awards, there has been a lot happening. So we thought we would have a little recap incase you missed anything.
First up is Awards!
So we were extremely excited to win our first award of the year at the beginning of March. We entered a new product of ours that we had been developing into the British Pie Awards 2020 (http://www.britishpieawards.co.uk). Our entry was a smoked beef and smoked stilton cheese pie that we entered into our first Pie Awards and only went and won a silver award for in the beef and cheese category! The overall supreme champion pie this year also came from our category so it must have been a pretty tough category.
The pie was a combination of a lovely flaky pastry case filled with slow cooked smoked beef in a flavoursome sauce/gravy with chunks of smoked Stilton cheese to add a wonderful salty kick, delish!
The plan was to make some small batches of these award winning pies through the year and especially at Melton Pie Fest which was unfortunately cancelled this year due to the pandemic. Our focus has understandably been on other core products during this tough, ever changing time and so it hasn’t had its proper launch yet, but, watch this space as we have some very exciting plans to announce soon that will see this rectified… more on this at a later date!
